Obituary of Jean Holtby

M. Jean (McDonald) Holtby, widow of the late Bruce Holtby, passed peacefully in her sleep on the evening of Tuesday, August 16, 2016. 96 years growing up on the farm, teaching, farming (married a farmer), back to teaching, and then retired back to farming. Interrupted by 3 kids (Bill, Gord, and Janette). Rewarded with 3 grandchildren (Christy and her fiancé Marc, Justin and his wife Stephanie, and Jeremy and his fiancée Madison) and a great-grandson (Keegan) plus a daughter-in-law Linda and a son-in-law Gary. She loved all of you dearly. Thank you to all of the family and friends for all of the visits and phone calls and a particular note of thanks to the staff at Westshore and the personal care-givers for all of the care and affection. She loved you all. The family of Jean Holtby will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel" 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Friday, August 19th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Service to Celebrate her life will be held in St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 319 Queen Street in Port Perry on Saturday, August 20th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Sandy Beaton officiating. Interment Breadalbane Cemetery, Utica. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or St. John’s Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
