(Veteran WW II, Long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 419 Port Perry and the I.O.O.F. Warriner Lodge Port Perry) Peacefully, on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 92. Jim Smitherman of Port Perry, beloved husband of Mae (nee Parrinder). Loved father of Susan and her husband Dale Watson of Port Perry, and Ruth and her husband Floyd Asselstine of Blackstock. Loving grandfather of Michelle and Craig Asselstine. `Dear brother of the late Richard Smitherman. The family of Jim Smitherman will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Wednesday, November 16th from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Service to celebrate a life well lived will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, November 17th at 11 a.m. with Reverend Don Willmer officiating. Interment Salem Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Poppy Fund or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation.
