Obituary of "Jim" William James Charles Wood

Aug 2, 1946 - Feb 21, 2018

It is with great sadness to share the passing of Jim Wood. His presence, calm demeanor, boisterous laughter, humor and his endless love will be greatly missed by Lorraine his wife of 51 years, his children Angela (Bob), Jeff (Connie), Julie (Rick). His 6 grandsons and 1 great-grandson were his pride and joy, Cole, Chase & Alexander Macgregor, Austin & Nathan Wood, Carter & Trenton Turnbull.

Jim always thought of his family first, he fought hard for 7 months to stay with us.

Pre-deceased by his parents William John (Bill) Wood & Elsie Margarite Wood, sisters Joyce and Linda & Father-in Law Mel Smith. Always admired and loved by his Mother-in-Law Isabelle Smith. Brother to Gwen, Tisha, Shirley, Bev, Doug, Donna, Rob & Michael, brother in law to Gary, Merv & Gwen Smith.

Jim had many successes in life, his 35-year career in real estate, a deep connection with his family, a successful round of golf one day and not so much the next. Jim served on the Uxbridge Fire Department for 17 years, was involved in numerous clubs and always took pride in his community.

His greatest strength was the ability to connect with others.  He was a mentor and a best friend known to many as “Woody”. Always wanting to help, he would do so quietly often anonymously.

A special thanks to his siblings: Mike & Sue Wood, Donna & Frank van Veghel, Gwen & Len Glover & Tisha Jones. Thank you to Dr. Brian St John and the many nurses & Doctor’s at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. To the Markham Stouffville Hospital (3E) Doctor’s, Nurses PSW’s & support staff that showed compassion & dignity towards Jim. They embraced his sense of humor and many became his friends.

Jim requested that his family, friends and colleagues gather in the late spring to celebrate his life, in his words “if you could all attend ……that would be pretty perfect”. CHEERIO!
