Obituary of Jack Wallis

John Edward “Jack” Wallis of Port Perry, Ontario was a retired 32-year employee of General Motors, and a longstanding member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He had a passion for cars, and once you got him talking about a good ol’ Chev, you never knew if the conversation would ever end. You couldn’t go anywhere with him that he wouldn’t run into someone in passing that he knew, and of course he would stop and get caught up on the latest with them. But that was Jack. He was social, and he liked to talk, and he liked being around people. But those are days gone by. Now we will let him rest as he makes his journey to join his late wife Mary Alice Wallis (nee Spray), who was the love of his life for 44+ years. He leaves behind his sister Betty Wallis, his brother Robert (Lesline) Wallis, his children Terry Berry, Wayne Berry, Charlene (Cole) Cote, Shawna (Kevin) Milton, and Kyra (Boyd) Watson, his 17 grandchildren, his 10 great-grandchildren, and his three nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his mum Jean Wallis, his sisters Judith Wallis, and Arlene Wallis, and his daughter Cathy Olliffe.  It’s not goodbye, it’s tu for now Dad :) The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Lakeridge Health in Port Perry for their care and support shown to Jack during his illness.

A private celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985 2171). If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
