Obituary of Sharalyn Marie Campbell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Sharalyn Campbell (nee Reader) on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, at the age of 70.  Sharalyn was born in Port Perry, Ontario to Owen and Ora Reader.

Rick Campbell, of Blackstock, first met the love of his life in grade nine at Port Perry High School.  Sharalyn, who captured Rick’s attention with her bright smile, was a beautiful young woman, star athlete, and talented figure skater. Initially Sharalyn wanted nothing to do with the Nestleton farm boy. It wasn’t until 1972 when the stars aligned, and Sharalyn finally agreed to go on their first date. They were married three years later on September 6, 1975 and spent the next 49 years hopelessly devoted to each other. Shortly after her marriage to Rick, Sharalyn dedicated her life to being an incredible stay-at-home mom to her two adoring children, Alisa Cole (Jason) of Port Perry, and Deryk Campbell (Erin) of Blackstock.  She enjoyed every aspect of motherhood, from preparing delicious home cooked meals and wonderful baked goods, to driving her kids to their endless extracurricular activities and sports events. After her children, her greatest joy came when she graduated from loving Mom to cherished Grandma to Jacob, Audrey and Emily. She loved nothing more than quietly crafting with her three grandkids. She will be dearly missed by her brother Bryan Reader (Debbie), sisters-in-law Karen, Judy and Deb, brothers-in-law Rod and Bruce, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sharalyn’s family would like to extend their undying gratitude for the kindness, support, and compassionate care provided by the team at Oak Ridges Hospice, Drs. Hadden and Kadakia, and the staff at Port Perry Hospital.

A private graveside service will be held with close family and friends in the Spring at the Nestleton United Church Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Oak Ridges Hospice through the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171).
