Condolences, all! I just heard this sad news. I met Dave in the art room at DMCI. Decades later, I think we got reacquainted through the Scugog Studio Tour and in 2012 we did a 'Dead Of Winter' zombie-themed show together in Port Perry; it was so much fun! I will miss his endless puns, art updates and thoughtful conversations (even when they drove me nuts).
Rest well, with many thanks for all you shared!

We miss our great conversations in the driveway and the sound of the Moto Guzzi heading out on yet another run. Dave’s art pieces are prominently displayed in our home and greatly treasured. We’re saddened to lose our neighbour and friend.

I was fortunate to not only meet David at his studio on one of the local art tours, but I purchased for my own collection and as gifts a number of pieces. The most significant are four from the Zombie Exhibition at the library and a few others from Meta4 Gallery, most recently this past January.
David's skill and artistry made each of his pieces not only covetable, but endearing as well. His great sense of quirky humour was a reflection of the person that he was - genuine and kind.
I will truly cherish his pieces for all of his qualities and regret for myself and his family and friends, his recent passing.

We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of artist, creative spirit and our friend, David Trant. We have sold David’s fabulous and fun sculptures since 2009 and every time he delivered new pieces we were guaranteed a delightful conversation and a generous serving of puns. Cheeky, intelligent and on the mark… that was David and his work. We’ll miss you, friend.

It is sad to learn of David's passing. I am a friend from the curling club where he and I enjoyed several great chats about our shared interests of curling, motorcyles and boating on the Trent. He will be missed.

Oh no, this is such sad news. I am heartbroken. David was my first real friend in high school, circa grade 7. He was nerdy and funny but also more worldly than I was. He introduced me to the Silver Surfer comic book shop and the bookstores on Queen street. I say he was a nerd and certainly no one at the time thought David was cool but there wasn’t a jock in high school who could compete with his courage in motorcycle racing. What a conundrum. The nerd punster was also the motorcycle racer. He was cool and all the more so because few knew it and he didn’t care. David and I didn’t interact much after high school, other than on Facebook, but I never forgot my first friend and never will.
