To Loretta and family, I want to send my heartfelt condolences to you and all of you on your loss. Mike was a wonderful and welcoming person. I knew his Mum and Aunt from Holy Redeemer in Pickering. Mike was just like his Mum, so kind. We were up to your place with our good friends Cathi and Jack at one of your Christmas parties. He was so proud to speak with my husband about your beautiful house and especially your elevator. Our prayers are with you and for the repose of his soul, may perpetual light shine upon him.

Thank you Patrick for your courage during this difficult time, I appreciate your notification and would like to extend my condolences to all your family members. Your Dad was a special guy most who knew him liked him , he was always positive, had a gift with people and a big heart. We will miss seeing him each Spring as he always looked to the future, planting new and old varieties. I never heard him say he was not planning for a new day. He really loved what he did, and was never knocked down, always back on his feet no matter the pain. He will be surely missed. Harry and Paula Richardson

Loretta, Joanne, Patrick & Grandkids our deepest condolences on the loss of Mike. My Dad ( Gary McColeman ) was a friend of Micheal’s from the start of his Brookline Greenhouse days in the late 70’s and to present. A lifelong friend to ALL of us who he touched. Dad’s Alzheimer’s and Dementia battles the past 5 years has him remembering “ bits and pieces “; he always has that smile when I mention people in Ontario. Of note he does remember “ The MoonMan “ as he called him.
Micheal’s infectious smile, fantastic sense of humour..giving nature and love of a good glass of wine are some of the memories we will always have.
From Gary McColeman, myself ( Dave his son) wife Leona , sister Sherri: from Nova Scotia & New Brunswick we send hugs; will light a candle : will raise a glass of wine in Micheal’s honor

Sending condolences to Loretta and family on the loss of Mike. While I did not know him well, only from walking by with Jenny G and being invited to grab excess goodies from his extensive garden - Mike was an unforgettable man. I never did make it to Martini Tuesday but I hope that there's a fantastic set up for Mike "upstairs" so he can continue his fellowship.

Loretta and family ,my sincere condolences to you and your family. Mike was like one of the whispering pines of Killbear Park ,a little bent but not broken, bringing joy through the open vistas of friendship. His daily "happy hour" call was greeting to all to step into his campfire parlor to partake in a wee dram or two . Mike's Irish gift for the gab was punctuated with many Irish jokes which beckoned the chorus of smiles and laughter.
Mike used time wisely as he knew so well, "that time is the only currency that we spend without knowing your balance".
This summer When the loons sing in Kilcoursie bay ,his spirit will be summoned to walk among our camp fires...albeit none will ever match the size and warmth of a Mooney fire !
Mike and the Mooney family will be in our prayers.
Jim O'Brien of the the Killbear Park clan.

Mike was a unique character who always dared to dream large. He overcame many challenges in his life to build a successful business and a loving family. He maintained a positive attitude and a good sense of humour regardless of the circumstances. He had a deep faith and strong sense of loyalty to his friends and community. He will no doubt leave a void in many peoples lives.
Wishing you comfort and peace in this time of sorrow.

Deepest condolences Loretta and family from your extended family at Killbear!
I challenge you to find a cleaner, better kept camp site in all the park!
Their site wasn't blown clear of debris by gas or electric powered blowers, Mike took pride in going over every inch of their site with a garden rake and keeping it that way for the duration of their stay.
He shared his bounty of home grown vegetable's with everyone willing to take some.
His humor, his jokes, his general interest in what others had going on in their lives, in what's gone on over the winter since the last summer sunset or happy hour Kilcoursie dink from the year before, really interested him.
Hopefully we see the trailer back with the happy hour sign illuminated so that we can share memories and raise a glass to a very special man.
One last sunset over Kilcoursie beach, the beach Mike loved so much...
Cheers Mike!

BOB AND SHARON KUZMA posted a condolence

Mike was Bobs longest friend. It started in grade school and continued on. When Bob and I started dating, Mike would send me flowers, just because. When we married, he bought us a beautiful lamp, still in our living room, and when we bought our home, he planted a maple tree on our front lawn. Almost 44 years later, it's still standing, being the largest tree on our street, and will forever remind us of our friend. No more Christmas kitchen gadgets, beautiful Christmas floral arrangements or gardening advice! It was at one of our New Years parties that Mike tending bar, met the lovely Polish Catholic girl, and the Irish Catholic guy was smitten! The rest is history. We will raise a martini to you. We will miss you! Love always Bob, Sharon, Bryan and Megan Kuzma

I have so many cherished memories of Uncle Mike from being a child celebrating every Christmas and Easter holiday together and occasionally coming together after Sunday church for brunch as a family. When I think of him, I can still hear his silly Irish voice and picture him by the campfire with his stainless steel martini glass in hand. I remember riding on the tractor with him as a little kid at the Seton Nursery property, and I can still see him sitting in one of those chairs, with the family cat “Pumpkin” curled up beside him.
I’ve been reminiscing about the train set in the basement—how it was always “off-limits,” and how special we felt when Uncle Mike let us in to see it. It was clear that it meant a lot to him, and he loved sharing it with us. I also remember how good his scrambled eggs were, his “different” mushroom soup—and always initiating the Christmas cracker crown wearing.
He will be greatly missed.
With love and sympathy,
Crystal, Dallas and family

I have to agree with Crystal. Mike was a very charismatic person and always could drum-up a conversation with just about anyone about just about anything! His "guess what this kitchen gadget is" was a Christmas annual tradition! And his bonfires at Killbear Park could be seen in satellite imagery! I was able to ride "shotgun" with him a couple months ago into Oshawa and, I must say, it was a pleasant, happy, and memorable trip. Rest in Peace Mike.

You will be missed beyond words Mike. Your sense of humour was awesome. There was never a dull moment when we were together, between your jokes and your free cat scans, you never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. Thoughtful, caring, generous, true friends like you don’t come around often in this life…we are truly honoured to have been your friend. Rest in Peace Mike…..Love Karen and Ralph
