Obituary of To Overgoor

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bartholomea Maria Overgoor (nee Duurland) on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the age of 94. Affectionately known by family and friends as "To”, she was the beloved wife of the late Ben Overgoor (2006). She will be deeply missed by her sons Jack (Nancy) and Piet (Ann Julia). Adored Oma of Lake (Becky) and Presley. Special "Toma" of Jasper. The eldest child of Pieter and Henrika Duurland, To was born in Laren, The Netherlands, on January 30th, 1932. Cherished sister of Mia Zeegers, Wilhelmina Duurland and Willem Duurland all residing in The Netherlands. Predeceased by brother Jan Duurland, brother-in law Han Zeegers and sister-in-law Tini Duurland. Dear sister-in-law of Ann Overgoor and Dolph Holy. Tante To to her many nieces and nephews.

As a newlywed, To immigrated to Canada in 1962. Together, To and Ben will be fondly remembered for their successful butcher shop operated on Old Simcoe Road in Port Perry. With To's infectious personality and generous hospitality, their attached family home became a hub of free coffee and cookies, lively debates, chimes of advice, laughter and endless jokes. Many customers became lifelong friends.

Immensely proud of her Dutch heritage, To was a long serving CWL and active choir member. To loved socializing, playing cards and was an accomplished painter. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank friends Pam and Jocelyn. Their daily support allowed To continued independence. As well, thank you to all those who telephoned best wishes or visited To in the hospital. Those visits were especially uplifting and very much appreciated. She will be missed by many.

The family of To Overgoor will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Monday, February 16th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1710 Scugog Street (Hwy 7A) in Port Perry on Tuesday, February 17th at 11 a.m. with Father Keith Wallace officiating.
