Obituary of Anne Marie Taillon

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Anne Marie Taillon, aged 65 years, on the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa, following a brief and sudden illness.

Born on February 18, 1961 at Oshawa Hospital, Anne Marie was the beloved daughter of the late Leo and Doris Taylor (nee O’Grady). On August 27, 1983, she married her soulmate and devoted partner, Guy Taillon, with whom she shared over 42 wonderful years of marriage. Anne Marie and Guy raised their four children in the same house she fondly grew up in — the family home her parents originally bought in 1964 in the heart of Port Perry.

Anne Marie was the proud and loving mother of Leo (Caitlin), Rory (Julie), Shanna (Kay), and Paul (Tatyana). The happiness she found in raising her children was only exceeded when she became a grandmother to Olivia, Logan, and Rowan (to whom she was affectionately known as Ga Ga).

She was the dear sister of Sean (Cindy), Kathleen (Peter), and the late James. Dearest daughter-in-law of Joseph and Ann. Sister-in-law to Mark, Michele and Joel. Anne Marie was also the proud aunt and great-aunt to a large and loving extended family. She was a “Mom”, “Sister”, and “Grandma” to many, and a friend to all.

After achieving her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education in 1984, Anne Marie enjoyed a long and successful career as an Educational Assistant with the Durham Catholic District School Board, touching the lives of countless students with her patience and kindness.

Gifted musically, she shared her talents at family functions on the piano and accordion. Anne Marie was the organist and choir leader at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years. She looked forward to entering her beautiful photos and crafts in the Port Perry Fair. Her family will always proudly remember her legendary, red ribbon-winning zucchini relish and lemon bread.

Anne Marie loved playing card games like euchre, donut and crib, around the family table. She treasured every moment spent making memories with her family, whether they were camping or enjoying time together at Twin Lakes, New Liskeard. Over the course of their life together, Guy and Anne Marie travelled to memorable places including Ireland, Scotland, Hawaii and other countless destinations across Canada. They always made time during their travels to visit with family and friends along the way.

She was a staple at the local arena, serving as secretary and scorekeeper while Guy announced for the Port Perry LumberJacks hockey club. Anne Marie could always be found at a theatre, school, basketball court, or field, supporting her children and grandchildren. She never missed an event and became a familiar, welcoming staple known by all families involved.

In the warmer months, Anne Marie could be found tending to her beautiful flower and fruitful vegetable gardens. She found joy in hosting and cooking meals for a house full of people. Each family birthday celebration was topped off with her signature ‘Banana Sour Cream Chocolate Chip Cake’. Every holiday, family and friends would gather and leave with plenty of leftovers and a fresh batch of Anne Marie’s coveted ‘Wonder Cookies’.

Anne Marie was dedicated to keeping everyone close and connected. Whether it was a quick catch-up or a long chat, her consistent phone calls were a staple in many people’s lives. She lovingly planned numerous parties, showers, and celebrations for family and friends. The care was demonstrated in the details she put into the menu, decorations, and activities. Her meticulous handwriting could be recognized in her thoughtful invitations, thank you notes, holiday cards, and Christmas letters.

Anne Marie spent her life caring for others, be it family, friends, or total strangers. She will be incredibly missed by all who loved her.
