Obituary of John Arthur Beckett

JOHN ARTHUR BECKETT ~ (Veteran WW II, Member Royal Canadian Legion Branch #419 Port Perry) ~ After a lengthy illness, on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Cottage Hospital in Uxbridge, at age 92. John Beckett of Scugog Island, beloved husband of Edna (nee Samells). Son of the late Oliver and Edith Beckett. John is survived by his sister Jenny Lamb and his brothers Jim and Dawson Beckett. He was predeceased by his sisters Irene Groves, Evelyn Aldred, Arvilla Beckett, Greta Kronquist, and Elsie Holdstock, and his brothers Stan, Henry and Floyd Beckett. He will be sadly missed by his brother-in-law George Samells, his sister-in-law Helen Hope and his many nieces and nephews. The family of John Beckett will receive friends at the Scugog United Church (19100 Island Road, Port Perry) on Monday, July 12th from 10 – 11 a.m. A Service to Celebrate his life will be held in the Church at 11 a.m. with Reverend Don McBey officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert.
