Obituary of J. Harvey Perry

J. HARVEY PERRY (Nationally Acclaimed Economist, former Director of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Executive Director of the Canadian Bankers’ Association) "Nothing is certain but death and taxes" Harvey Perry, born in 1912, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 in the arms of his daughter Lynn McDonald who adored him and enjoyed every second of his companionship and his love of music of every kind. Long after he could communicate verbally, he still imparted a silent wisdom and profound serenity. We held hands and walked together, then I pushed his wheelchair, but we did it all! The Casino, Goreski’s, the Front Porch, Hank’s, Jesters, the Dairy Queen, the Hyland and the playground in the park. We were a team! I wish to acknowledge James MacDonald, Ronnie McDonald, Marlene (Scugog Island Taxi) and Betty Collins, members of Team Harvey! Thank you Port Perry and the empathetic staff at the Community Nursing Home for making the last 10 years of Dad’s life "a breeze." Harvey has joined his wife Florence, his son Peter and his daughter Ruth. He leaves behind his daughter Lynn McDonald, his grandchildren Michael, Kevin, Alison, Cathy, Warren, Ryan, Ronnie and Adam, his great grandchildren Ashley, Quinten, Brianna, Laurel and Tyler and his sister Joan. Private arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171). If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Community Nursing Home Activity Fund in Port Perry. On-line condolences may be left at www.waggfuneralhome.com "He was a true Gentleman"
