Dear Mr. Chappelle's Family, friends, and loved ones,
Although it has been some time since Mr. Chappell soared towards his eternal life, I have only just learned of his passing. My heartfelt condolences to all who miss him.
Mr. Chappell was my French teacher at Francis Libermann High School, in Scarborough, Ontario. The last year that I attended his class was in 1986. I struggled immensely in my life. But in his class there was fresh air, and lots of life, and light. It was something to look forward to each time.
Reality slipped away, and we all entered the world of Mr. Chappell. We existed as humans, where we were treated as young adults. We were respected, warts, pimples, naievite, and all. Conversations filled the room. We learned to speak French as if it was something we all already knew. And we always learned something about life, something of interest, from Mr. Chappell's unique, and most interesting view of the world we live in.
For me, it was a time and space to feel welcome, and where I could breathe. He made everything unbearable dissapear, at least until the bell rang.
As I recently learned of this alumni group, and came upon the Facebook post regarding Mr. Chappell, I would like to also share with you some of the fond memories, and kind words spoken of him there.
Hope this finds you well.
Sincerely,
Susan Lynch (nee Wimmer)

Dear Christophe our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Ab met Peter many years ago while working at Murray Williams and he always enjoyed visiting with Peter every time he ran into him at Trewins. I know that everyone who came in contact with Peter was a more knowledgeable person for meeting him. He certainly loved life and enjoyed all aspects of nature. We will surely miss him and all the knowledge he takes with him. Jill and Ab Leach

Dear Christophe our thoughts are with you at this time. Peter was such a good neighbour, always willing to keep an eye on our place, making sure the roads were looked after and kept us informed of happenings within the neighbourhood. It's still a shock to us all, he'll be missed. It's been a pleasure knowing Peter. If there is anything you need, please let us know.

On behalf of myself and my wife Sharron, we would like to offer our sincere condolences and sympathies. I know that the Dear Lord will Bless and Honour him for his life of service to students of the French language. Au Revoir Mike & Sharron MOnk

Please forward to Christophe. Dear Christophe, I was saddened to find your Dad's obituary in the paper this weekend. I would like have attended the visitation if I'd known. I'm going to miss those visits over a Scwepps Gingerale or a good cup of coffee, and walks around the property. I last talked with him at the grocery store about a month and 1/2 ago, and he seemed in good form. Have you got a home for George and Martha? Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help. Sincerely, Mark Puckrin
