Obituary of Reverend Hubert John Isaacs

REVEREND HUBERT "JOHN" ISAACS (B.A., B.Div., M.Div.) Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at the Westshore Retirement Home in Port Perry, Ontario, at age 90. John was the only child of the late Captain Thomas Isaacs and his wife, the late Sarah Frances Dibbon of Burin, Newfoundland. John’s first vocation was as a school teacher in rural Newfoundland. John went on to study at Memorial University (Queen’s College), University of Toronto (Trinity College), University of Saskatchewan (St. Chad’s College) and McGill University culminating his studies by obtaining his Masters Degree in Divinity. John served as an Anglican parish priest in Montreal at St. Thomas Westmount, St. Stephens Lachine, and St. Andrews Dorval, as well as in Toronto at St. Simons Highland Creek. John retired from active church life in 1981. John then served as assistant parish priest at St. Judes Wexford until 1991. John will be greatly missed by his wife Marguerite (nee Hall), daughter Jenepher, son Gregory (wife Patricia), and son Thomas (wife Julia). "Papa" will be remembered lovingly by his grandchildren: Rachael, Brian, Mark, Jesse, Sarah, Christopher, Nicholas, and Jason. For the last 28 years John and Marguerite have spent summers in their sea-side cottage - "Isaacs Hall" – in Green Bay, Petite Riviere, Nova Scotia. While there, they enjoyed frequent visits from family and friends while spending countless afternoons and evenings full of good-hearted fun playing cards (cribbage, euchre, and 45’s). John and Marguerite were known for their walks up and down Green Bay Road. Even two recent hurricanes (Hortenz and Juan), couldn’t keep them away from their beloved "Isaacs Hall". A private family ceremony will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made through the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) to St. Michaels Anglican Church, Petite Riviere, Nova Scotia B0J 2P0.
