Very sorry to hear of the passing of John. I only found out through the latest edition of the Coupler(TTC) magazine. John and I go back to his early days at Danforth Division where we had many laughs. he was always a private person but great at doing "takeoffs" of people. Since I retired 7 years ago I have not seen John but will always have very fond memories of him.

Stephanie and family,I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. We attended school together right from public to high school. We recently caught up at our high school reunion and he spoke of his family how proud he was and how much he loved you all. His concerns were for you and not himself knowing how hard it would be on you. Know he is watching over you and will be the angel on your shoulders. Take care of yourselves and each other you are in my prayers. Sincerely Cheryl

Sorry to hear of your husband and fathers passing. John and I attended Fairmount Public School and R.H. King together. Some of my fondest memories are of John and I riding our bikes around listening to the Beatles on our AM radios and singing along. Seems like "Yesterday". God bless.

Hello Stephanie, You might remember me, we met once or twice at a couple of TTC functions. I am one of the foremen at McCowan Carhouse that worked closely with John whenever he was up there with a class. I've known John since he was an operator on the BD and I was a "99" or line mechanic out of Coxwel. We started to work more closely together when both he and I both transferred to the SRT in '85. I had last sent him an email last April but he never returned it nor did I recieve a call. That concerned me but I did not want to call and intrude on your privacy. Any words I have cannot adequately express what you must be feeling right now but I can say that I will miss John and his quit wit combined with empathy and concern for my wife's on and off battles with cancer over the years. I don't whether you knew or not but he used to do a pretty passable Micheal Jackson moonwalk but the best was the "old man" he used to do by pulling up his pants to his chest, putting his hair straight up and walking around pretending to gum his food! That used to crack me up! The last time I saw John was when he dropped by the carhouse about a year ago with Mark Hemming, whom I've known for almost as long as John. He talked positively about his treatments and never once complained about his condition. He even ripped off a few jokes. The last thing he asked me was how my wife was and he wished me the best for all of my family. I told him the same thing and both of us truly meant it, unlike the usual parting banalities. I will be unable to attend the service as I am on vacation up north but I will be thinking of him and the dignity and composure he portayed to all who knew him. He was a class act all the way round and was a gentle, old, soul. It was a priviledge to know him. I wish you and you and your children my deepest sympathies at his time of loss I will miss him. With deepest sympathies, Richard, Corine and Michelle.

Please accept my most sincere condolences over your loss. I had the pleasure of working for and with John a number of years ago. A few things became quite clear to me about him: He was very devoted to his family, was quite perceptive and genuinely interested in people. This made him a great guy to work for and know. I am deeply saddened by his passing and will miss his humour, sincerity and insight.
