Part 5
My godparents were the epitome of karma, they gave so much and it was amplified and returned - with widespread appreciation. Love simply radiated from them, unconditional and genuine. That light will never extinguish for those who knew them, we grieve with heavy hearts today but know that the world was made better by having these special people in our lives.
2015 will bring progress, and there will always be new ways to get messages across, we’ll remember Annabell when we think of the very HUMAN, people-to-people way she had to connect our community.
Remember this tomorrow when you get up, she’s still here, she just has wings on now, and the legacy will live on, we are her community…….let’s promise to pay it forward.
LOVE YOU ALWAYS and FOREVER ANNABELL, thank you for being in my life.

Trumping it all was family. The centre of the universe in the Harrison household and can’t you just see what a great mother and grandmother (and godmother) Annabell was when you look at Kim and Mandi? That is until Brayden came along! Annabell was the proudest GREAT grandma I've ever known.
Brayden, as we all know, is pure joy and entertainment, though I do know at the age of 4 he would help her too. The point is, everyone was always there for Annabell and Annabell was always there for you (she was amazing at keeping secrets too, you could always trust that. There's no one better. A fine art in itself).

Many of you will know my late godfather too, Bill. He was the captain of the volunteer fire department, and he also worked with Annabell at the local newspaper. Together they were part of the very fabric of our community, always nurturing, loving, helpful, receptive......and grateful. I say grateful because there was never a kind gesture from a neighbour or family member that went unnoticed.
This is another thing Annabell did better than anyone I know, and most definitely better than social media can do. She expressed GRATITUDE -----always.
How many of you REALLY know how often you were spoken of lovingly when I talked to her? The neighbors that cut the grass, raked leaves, got the mail or shoveled snow…especially in the last 3 years? I know you are here today, and I know Annabell thanked you at the time – she really, really meant it!
(Part 3, this form won't let me post all of what I wanted to say in one submission!)

There’s another thing that Facebook can never do as well as Annabell, it’s the human touch. Even when I was in Santa Fe for nine years, she was sure to call me faithfully over the holidays to reach out with her special charm and well wishes. It was always real with her, and real connection…..and she’d either always tell you how she felt about it, or she’d put her eyes upward and say, she wasn’t going to comment!
Know what I mean?

Pragmatic. Forthright. and Genuine. The three words that I could use to describe Annabell and you would know what I mean……… But there’s more that just these words can convey.
When I was growing up we didn’t have the internet, we didn’t have email or texts, heck we even had CORDS attached to our phones on the wall. Anyone remember that?
What we had was Annabell.
Mark Zuckerberg wouldn’t have known Annabell, but if he did, he would have taken notes! Mark may have invented the digital platform we know as Facebook today, and though he knew algorithms, he could never grasp Annabell’s scope of knowledge in our community. She was the original social media before the term was ever coined. She was FACEBOOK - without the computer. Using airwaves, and that old fashioned thing we call a telephone, Annabell got the news out in the community. We will all be the beta versions of Annabell, because she was perfection at it, she’s the original.

You are in our thoughts and prayers. We have so many memories of your parents at the parties, fires etc. when we were all in the department together, one big family. We are sorry we cannot get to your Mother's funeral as we hate driving in the weather and you never know what it is going to do.

Annabelle was a great lady and a great newspaper person of the first order. She was kind to me and took the time to show a rookie the ropes. Even after retirement to gave me the gift of her knowledge and contacts and was the first to offer her support when we began The Standard.. Her no nonsense advice was valuable and welcome to me for over a decade and I shall miss her a great deal. Rik Davie Port Perry
