Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Healy

On Thursday, August 27, 2015, after a few short days in the Port Perry Hospital, Jean Healy (88) peacefully passed away. She was pre-deceased by her lifelong love and husband, Edward and her sister Winnifred. Jean will be greatly missed by her daughter Martha Casson, daughter Ruth Johnson (Ian), daughter Kit Shelley (Brian) and her adored grandchildren Jeremy (Milena), Andrew (Dawn), Melanie (Fred), Jenna, John and Liza (Matt). Jean would have been happy and proud to see her great grandchildren Miles and Kenzie grow into the very special people they will become. She will also be missed by her loving nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Jean has been predeceased by many of the fine people who were best friends from the Falconbridge Nickel Mine days. Those who remain with us today love her dearly. Jean will be remembered for her smile that could light up a room and the big spirit of kindness, love and care that it reflected. She had a delightful sense of humour, loved to dance, loved her cottage times and had more luck fishing than anyone else in the family. She also made the best wild blueberry pies. She was the kind of beautiful and wonderful Mother and friend that everyone deserves. All of her family and friends will be forever grateful that they had her in their lives. Our family members want to acknowledge the wonderful care and support provided to Jean by Dr. Ankelly Armstrong, Dr. David Wang, Dr. Steve Russell and Dr. John Stewart. We also want to acknowledge the amazingly skilled and caring nurses and technicians at the Port Perry Hospital. Finally, the family will be forever indebted to Jean’s caregivers Nancy Rivera, Brenda Carberry and Karen Galve for their love and support. We take to heart the legacy of Jean through the following lyrics: We rise again in the faces of our children; we rise again in the voices of our songs; we rise again in the waves out in the ocean and then we rise again. If desired, donations may be made in Jean’s name to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation, in person, by mail at 451 Paxton Street, Port Perry ON L9L 1L9 or on line at www.pphfoundation.ca/giving.
