It is my first week back after the holidays and I went to get gas at lunch hour. The usual friendly face behind the counter was not there. I asked if he was on holidays and I was shocked at the response. I will miss the friendly conversations that were always waiting for me. May God truly bring your family comfort during your terrible time of grief. Love from a sad customer, Susan

To Mrs. Heayn and family: We live at 114 Bowman Avenue in Whitby, just four houses up from the Canadian Tire Gas Bar where my husband and I have filled our cars for the last 9 years. That is where we came to know our friend Bill. I had a very good friend named Thelma McMillan (born Cober) who was brought up in Port Perry and that is how Bill and I started talking quite a few years ago. We also have two dogs so of course he told me about his two jack russell terriers and how they kept him busy in the last year. Bill always made buying gas not just another everyday activity, but a wonderful social experience with someone who always seemed interested in what I or my husband had to say. And of course, the three Joshs who worked for him all thought he was the best! Every morning on the way to work, I would look over at Bill's car and marvel that he was able to get to work no matter how inclement the weather. As he told me only several days before his passing, the weather didn't bother him at all as he just drove carefully. I only heard about his passing from one Josh who I saw in Oshawa this past Sunday and I was terribly shocked as was my husband. We will miss Bill's sunny disposition and gentle laugh. I know filling up will never be quite the same. It was always so nice to have a friend at the end of the street who we will all miss terribly. Please accept our deepest sympathy to you and your entire family. (I will be making a donation to the Animal Shelter in Bill's memory.) Sincerely, Joyce Vetter

Please accept my condolances on the passing of Bill. I was a manager with Canadian Tire Petroleum in Trenton from 1980 until my departure in 1995. During this time I got to know Bill and dropped by his Whitby location to see him whenever I had the opportunity after leaving the company. We shared many a laugh when getting together for our district meetings and other CTP functions. My prayers are with the family. Sincerely, Dave McWaters

To the Heayn Family, Please accept our condolence's to you and your family. I met Bill 20 years ago when I first started with Canadian Tire. We used to drive together to meetings in Toronto or Kingston often. He had a great sense of humour and was always a quiet and gentle person. I can not believe he's no longer here. You and your family are in our prayers, we are so sorry for your loss. Tina Huffman Cobourg, ON
