Obituary of Annie Young

EVELYN ANNE YOUNG ~ It is with great sadness that we announce Annie’s death in Oshawa on December 9th 2009, age 57, from cancer. Beloved daughter of Eve and Stu Young, she will be sorely missed by her Aunt Nan, brothers Dave, Pete and Jim, sister-in-law Mary, nieces Ferelith, Julie and Colleen, nephew Quentin, all her cousins and her dog Maizie. Annie had so many friends whom she adored – especially in the last couple of years Suzanne, Martha, Joe and Aunty Beth. Annie also touched the lives of countless students and colleagues over her many years as an educator in the Durham region. From her days as a junior and senior girls’ high jump champion in Windsor, Annie strove to excel – she obtained an honours degree in French at Queen’s University, established a branch of the Alliance Française in Oshawa and taught extensively before receiving her Masters in Education from OISE and becoming a much-revered Principal. Annie’s thirst for knowledge was insatiable and she was passionate about so much – her family, her friends, her dogs; languages, travel, photography, drumming, painting and, of course, her beloved Bruce Beach. Her funeral will take place at 2 pm on Monday, December 14th at Church of the Ascension, 266 North Street, Port Perry, ON. An educational trust fund is being set up in her name – cheques to be made out to Uxbridge P.S. and either brought to the Church, mailed to the school, or WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street, Port Perry, ON L9L 1B9 (905-985-2171). The family would like to thank all those who cared for Annie throughout her treatment. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
