Obituary of Iris Winnifred Nowell

Peacefully, with family at her side, on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at ReachView Village in Uxbridge, at age 84. Iris Nowell, formerly of Toronto, loving aunt of Melissa, and her husband Brian Skitch and their 3 daughters of Ashburn. Iris was predeceased by her parents, Josephine and Wilfred, her brother Brian (Mavis) and her sister Joan. She is survived by her sister Dell, her brother Blayne (Elaine) and many adored nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Iris was the author of seven books. Her passion and knowledge of art led her to write both Painters Eleven: The Wild Ones of Art and Harold Town. Iris was an active member of Amnesty International for many years and was a patron of the arts in the Toronto area. Everything Iris did was done with enthusiasm and her love of life was evident in all she accomplished.

 

Rested at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171). Interment Northern Lights Cemetery, Edmonton, Alberta. A Celebration of her Life will be held in Toronto at a later date.
