Obituary of Joseph Richard Salcak

It It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our kind and loving father Joseph Salcak on Tuesday May 14, 2019. He has gone on to be reunited with the love of his life Dianne.

On Dianne’s passing in December 2017, Dad made the move from Mississauga to West Shore Village to be close to his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, happy knowing he would have his family near.  He absolutely loved each and every moment in Port Perry and became quite recognizable moving around town on his big grey scooter with his little dog Cleo on the floorboards. Though mobility issues held him back, his scooter gave him the freedom he needed and wanted.

He leaves a hole in the hearts of his daughter Tracy, son-in law Jeff of Port Perry, granddaughter (and pride and joy- aka “Jaimie Girl”) Jaimie of Toronto and his son Jeff of Mississauga. He will also be missed by his nephew Rick and family in British Columbia, niece Naomi of British Columbia, niece Toni of Alberta, Dianne’s sister Gloria in Tennessee and her two sons, and Dianne’s nephew Paul and family in Oakville.

We would like to thank the staff of West Shore Village for your kindness to our father. We would also like to thank the staff in the Dialysis Department at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in keeping Dad well. A final thank you to the ICU department at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for all the compassion, knowledge and care provided to Dad in his last day- words cannot explain how much it meant to us.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171). If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Lakeridge Health Foundation or the New Animal Shelter for Uxbridge - Scugog.
