Chester Hartman

Obituary of Chester Robert "Ches" Hartman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ches Hartman. Ches passed peacefully, on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, in his 94th year. Born on September 5, 1926 in Beaverlodge, Alberta, Ches was predeceased by his parents Roy Robert Hartman and Mary Ester (nee Miller), his spouse Jean Audrey (nee LaMash), and his brother Allid. Ches will be dearly missed by his son Robert Hartman and daughter-in-law Mary-Anne (nee Gallagher), his grandchildren Laura and Matthew and his niece, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Ches was a WW II veteran who served in the Canadian Military from 1945 - 1970. He served in Europe and Canada during WW II, the Belgian Congo with the United Nations, Alert and other regions of Canada. After he retired from the military he worked as a Communication Consultant for the Federal Government until his final retirement. Ches spent his years after retirement volunteering for Port Perry Community Care, calling, visiting and driving those in need. Ches loved animals and nothing made him happier than being with his rescue dog, PJ. A huge thank you to the staff of the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry for their care and support. A celebration of Ches’ life will be held at a future date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the New Uxbridge Scugog Animal Shelter or the Port Perry Hospital Foundation. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
