Obituary of Rose Richard

Rose passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020, peacefully in her sleep in the West Shore Village Retirement Home in Port Perry, Ontario, where she spent the last year of her life with her best friend of 55 years, Diane Goodman. 

 

Rose was a Teacher /Librarian in Whitby, Ontario in her earlier years, before retiring to spend her remaining years in Nova Scotia with her sisters and brothers and with many visits back to PEI where she was born and which she loved so much.  She loved to sing and enjoyed watching baseball and was a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan. 

 

She was born to Alcide and Gertrude (Gallant) Richard on January 25, 1930 and was the eldest in a family of 7 children.  She is survived by her brother, Claude Richard, her sister, Doreen Pickering and 10 nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sisters Roma Downie, Shirley MacPherson and Irene McMillan, her brother, Clair Richard, and her niece Anne Downie. 

 

She was a loving, wonderful person who made many trips to different areas of the world throughout her lifetime.  She will be greatly missed.

 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171).  Rose’s remains will be sent to the Middleton Funeral Home in Middleton, NS and Rose will be buried with her sister, Shirley, in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Kingston, NS.
