Obituary of Irma May Martin
Irma (nee Taylor), (formerly Lewis) was the much loved Mother of 6, Grandmother to 10 and Great-grandmother to 4. After 7 years of declining health, Mom passed away on Saturday, January 16th, 2021 from COVID-19.
Mom was a very energetic, loving person who gave all she had to her 6 children Brenda (Shawn) Lackie; Linda (Brian) Rowe; Dana (Rob) Scott; Andrea Lewis; Lisa (Trent) Leighton; Derek Lewis. She will also be missed by her loving grandchildren, Aislin, Erin, Dana, Hunter, Nathan, Hannah, Avery, Neve, Cassie and Kaitlin, and the great-grandkids.
As a believer in giving back to the community, she participated in many activities as an actor in the Borelian Theatre Group, a founding member and coach of the local soft ball league, an Executive of the Port Perry Figure Skating Club, and in her later years, a passionate, valuable supporter of Lake Ridge Health - Port Perry. She also enjoyed playing golf, curling and baseball, as well as watching football with her sons-in-law. She founded Gord Lewis Motors and the Port Perry Auto Supply with our father (pre-deceased Gordon Lewis). They divorced after 22 years of marriage but remained lifelong friends celebrating many family celebrations and Sunday dinners with us kids.
Mom later married childhood friend, Bob Martin, and celebrated 22 years of marriage until his passing. Together they spent their retirement years at her trailer in the Kawartha's, where she loved to swim, play games, spend time with friends and weekends with her grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was having the grandkids to her trailer, baking treats and money cakes as well as each Christmas Eve giving everyone pajamas. She was a vibrant person who took on life and made the most of each situation. Mom/Grandma is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
A private family service will be held at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171). If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the charity of your choice. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
