Sincerest condolences to Dwayne's family. He was like a big brother to me, was instrumental in getting Darson and I our first motorcycles. There are many stories of his exciting life. We all waited in eager anticipation for his visits from Toronto. He helped us all see there was a big wide world out there for the taking. His energy and enthusiasm for life was inspirational. He will be missed.

I met Dwayne when a friend and client of mine (Scott Allison) told me to come up and see the wonderful property he bought at the end of Red Pine Drive. He suggested that if I didn't talk to Dwayne about getting a piece of property fast, it would be all be gone and I would regret missing the opportunity. I recall arriving in Palmer Rapids, meeting Dwayne, and walking for 2 1/2 hours behind this energetic guy to see every inch of his 34 acres (including the sold and developed parts) on the hottest day in June of 2008. He wore me out! We became friends that day, and after purchasing a beautiful piece from him in 2011 (it was a prime piece he had held back from sale), we spoke often. One of us would walk across Petzold Place Road to chat and catch up on our news and views. It broke my heart to hear of his passing, and I can assure you I will miss him a lot. He was a kind soul with a big heart - the kind of man with principles that the world needs more of. God bless him and may he rest in peace.

Our deepest condolences from the Winnipeg Petzolds. I well remember Dwayne and Elaine opening their Denbigh home to us 20 years ago when dad re-married. He happily entertained my two daughters, handing them fishing rods or demonstrating the technique of swinging out on a rope for a plunge in the creek. It really is the end of an era losing the last of the Petzold brothers. With love and thanks for those memories, Greg, Halya and Michelle

To my sister Elaine, nephews Todd, Shawn and their families. A chapter in all of our lives has closed, a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and a great friend has passed. He may be gone but has left us all with memories...after all when we are gone that is what we too will leave.. memories.
Dwayne came into my life when he started dating my sister Elaine, I was about 6 or 7 years of age. He was himself just a teenager probably about 17 years of age. He was like a big brother to me. Later I recall him showing up in his RCAF uniform, as a young boy I was impressed, he was my hero. He always took time to talk to me. Dwayne left the service of the RCAF and joined another service of the country, the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force. He was now closer to home and spent more time down at the farm.
Over the years I spent a lot of time with Dwayne, whether fixing a barn or fixing a car or working on an old motorcycle. I learned from him how to repair stuff and as the saying goes "making a silk purse out of a sows ear". We turned the old cow paths into trails for the motorcycle, over creeks, swamps and up to the top of Dry Mountain. The old 350 Enfield became our ATV of the day.
Dwayne was always there for me, helping and guiding. When it came time for me to pursue a career, he gave me the courage to be brave, strong and self-confident to step out of my comfort zone and apply to the Police Service. I will be forever grateful to him for that guidance and mentoring.
Dwayne and I took many flights in small planes, some of which were white knuckle affairs in less than ideal conditions.
Dwayne looked forward to the annual moose hunt every year... in the gang he was called Deputy.
Deep fried pike, fresh cut french fries accompanied by a rye and coke, a fire going, grouse balancing from the tree branches..it didn't get any better. I shared the hunt for several years and yes we did harvest the occasional moose, but most important was the memories.
During his lifetime Dwayne was a true friend to many people and was always ready to reach out and help anyone.
I will miss "My Big Brother", My close friend, My Brother-In-Law.
There is a time for everyone..this was your time.
God Bless
Darson (aka Roadkill)

To my dear Aunt Elaine, and cousins Todd & Shawn (and their families)......I am so sorry for the sadness that you have endured in the recent years and months and now in the loss of your husband and father.....the youngest of the "Petzold boys".
Uncle Dwayne and Aunt Elaine have been there for us all to share in all of life's celebrations and sadnesses. In addition, I always felt a special warmth around Uncle Dwayne.....always felt like we were "buddies".
When his oldest brother (Eathel - my Dad) was failing and miserable in the hospital(s).....Dwayne was our "rock"....he always showed up, inspite of his own health issues....and it wasn't always the easiest thing to do.....given Dad's "uneven" temperment about being infirmed!!!
Dwayne had an amazing life, so vital in his younger years and as a Police officer so hardworking and dedicated to his career.....there wasn't anything he couldn't do (in my eyes) but mostly he loved his wife and his family and was so proud of all their accomplishments.
Always in our hearts....I imagine he'll be joining his brothers beyond.....watching over his wonderful family here on earth.
With much love and fond memories,
Linda Petzold & Herb Tasch
