Obituary of Dorothea Madeline Johnston

Peacefully passed away at Victoria Manor in Lindsay on Friday, April 30, 2021, at the young age of ninety-six. Dorothea was the loving wife of the late Vernon Johnston. Dearly loved mother of Paula (Chuck) Mercier of Port Perry and John (Josie) Johnston of Welland. Loving Nanny of Michael (Amber), Paul, Sara (Chris), Jesse, Eric and Mackenzie. GG to Sweet Baby Everett and she was delighted to learn of two more on the way. Dorothea was the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Hyderman (McPhee) of Whitby. Beloved sister of Carmie Plowright, Ernie Hyderman (deceased) and his wife Suzie (deceased), Vern Hyderman (deceased) and his wife Nan. Dear sister-in-law of the late Don and Doris Bell and Allan and Helen Johnston. Aunty Dot leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as friends and her Guardian Angel Jean Eleanor.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Victoria Manor for safely caring for mom during this difficult last year. Dorothea will be remembered for her vibrant, vivacious, determined and independent spirit. Her family was the centre of her universe. We love and will miss her with all our hearts.

Due to the restrictions of COVID-19 a celebration of her life will be held in early July. Arrangements have been entrusted to the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171).
