I just learned of Tim’s death this weekend, reading the U of G Alumni magazine. I’d most certainly have been in touch with you all much sooner had I known this had happened. I know that Tim and I each had gone on our separate journeys a long time ago, but I never have forgotten what it meant to have his friendship and his family in my life.
I was just telling my son Wyatt today how much my love of the outdoors and nature I learned from my experiences of being with you all, and Boo, those years ago. I treasure those times we spent together.
I recall the standing joke that Tim and I had about my playing in church league hockey (and why no one at school ever saw me in community hockey.) That was his idea to make me feel more comfortable when others were teasing me about not seeing me play hockey. (I played soccer in the summers rather than hockey.) It’s just how it turned out. Tim never made me feel uncomfortable about that choice. In professional hockey, he rooted for Montreal, I rooted for Toronto. That was our friendship though, never critical of my choice, just a healthy team competition that kept it interesting. It was the same whenever we cruised the docks looking at boats at the marina in Pointe au Baril. “Do you like that boat?… Do you?… Do you? What do you like about that one?”
I know that Tim and I drifted apart as we got older, but his influence and perspective on life have always stuck with me since those days of public school into high school. For me, Tim defined what it meant to have a friend, a first friend, and I truly value that. I’ve had close friends over the years, but Tim was my best friend through all that time. When I think of what defines a best friend, it always comes back to that time for me, and for that Tim, thank you.
I am heartbroken and saddened by his death, and hold you all in my heart.
Richard.

My husband and I first met Tim about 15 years ago when he was cutting hay nearby and we asked if he could help us out with our hayfield. We had no farm equipment of any kind and we were struggling to find a way to make our hobby farm work. He was so helpful and kind! He cut our hay for a few years and then pointed us in the right direction so we could buy our own tractor. We are so grateful to him for sharing his time and knowledge with us. We are shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and did not realize he was battling cancer. Please accept our deepest condolences. He will be greatly missed.

To Sheila and Brooke and extended family. My condolences on your profound loss. I had the pleasure of working with Tim for 12 years. I would tap dance to work when I saw his name on my schedule. We had many laughs together over the years. Tim was an upstanding person with all the traits one could admire like, honesty, smarts, integrity and capability. Please know that he will not be forgotten.
God bless,

Dear Mr and Mrs Davidson, Rob, Lucy, Jamie And Amy and Tim's wife and daughter: I am so sorry to hear of Tim's passing. I have wonderful memories of all you from my childhood. Playing with Lucy and watching her brothers in action on the farm and sometimes getting into some mischief to purposely bug them, as little sisters do. I had opportunity to run into Tim as we have grown up and admired his reflection on family! May his wonderful spirit bring you comfort. RIP Tim!

We certainly lost a bright light this week but find comfort in the wonderful memories we have of Tim. Thanks to Boo who planted Canada's northern seed in Tim at an early age. Fortunately that seed grew as Tim headed to Yellowknife and met Sheila, and is ultimately the reason we headed north. We have such wonderful memories together of gatherings (sometimes at the Gold Range!), fishing, moose hunting and certainly laughter. Tim sure was a story-teller, especially over a few 'pops'!
We send everyone a BIG virtual hug from YK and when we see the next Air Tindi plane in our northern sky, we'll envision it tipping its wings for you Tim! Hug each other tight at this difficult time and we are thinking of all of you xo
Love Meredith & Jeff xoxo

Tim was fearless. He had a strong confidence in himself. He was very good at doing the many things he tried, and he really believed he could do anything. It was really astonishing when he challenged the Powers That Be, requesting, or rather, demanding that his driver's license be reinstated. He got his license back. Tim was driven and relentless, and he could be hard to keep up with. I remember one day that began with him cutting hay. I picked him up and drove him to Sunnybrook for treatment. Then we carried on to a Speckled Park cattle sale. We finished the tour off by looking at a combine in Brantford before driving home. He bought the combine. Tim was an inspiration to me. I always looked up to him. He challenged me to attempt new things and try to keep up. I'm sure it wasn't always easy for him to have a younger brother in tow, but he didn't seem to mind including me in his adventures. That's what big brothers do. That's what leaders do. I learnt so much from Tim. He led by example, and taught by doing, and just said, 'Let's go.' You'd better be ready to learn fast to keep up with him. When I say I looked up to Tim, sometimes it was literally. Watching him take off and land planes was really great, and sometimes I was lucky enough to be beside him in the cockpit doing it with him. I'll never forget the time as little boys we had a new rope ladder to climb up to the first branch of the enormous Ash tree on the front lawn. We had never been up it before and were excited because you could see that once up there you could climb high into the massive tree. Tim scampered right up and called down from the branch for me to come up and join him. I was scared, my foot hovering over the wobbly first step. After a while Tim shouted, 'I can see all the way to Africa from up here, and I can see a crocodile, and its eating a man.' With that I climbed up the ladder and as I sat down on the branch I wasn't concerned that I couldn't see Africa, or the crocodile with a man in its mouth. I was just thrilled to be up there in the tree with Tim. By then, of course, he was ten branches above me calling down again. We spent a lot of time up that tree. Yes, I have always looked up to Tim often followed his lead on a lifetime of shared adventures. I will miss that.
I will miss his humour too. Tim was funny, a natural story teller. From his hospital bed at Sunnybrook after his initial diagnosis, he was joking about the hospital runaway that made it out to Bayview, that you shouldn't ever wear button fly jeans to the hospital as he had, and one of my favorites, 'I think I have a fishing license still, but they took everything else away.' One recount has Tim trying to buy beer with a discount for farm use. He was saying it should be tax exempt, the Brewer's Retail guy rather confused, said, 'I don't think we do that', Tim replies, 'I guess you've never worked with my Dad.'
Tim continued to make us laugh because he didn't want us to cry.
Tim was a unique character, and he made good friends wherever he went. His 87A buddies from Guelph, at Air Tindi and in Yellowknife, from Westjet, from hockey, hunting, fishing, and from the farming community. Friends stood by him throughout. To all of you, we are really grateful for the companionship, and we give you our greatest thanks.
Tim was an accomplished skier and sailor, but what he really liked to do was make some noise. He was a driver. Bikes, snowmobiles, Jeeps, tractors, combines, boats, trucks and 737's, he enjoyed making them perform to his will, and of course sometimes it was vice versa. Tim liked to live his life Full Throttle.
Maybe he just flew a little too close to the sun.
When Mum learned Tim's illness was terminal she said, 'I hope he dies in his tractor seat with the engine at high revolution. Let's make some noise for Tim. Next time you fire up rev'er up so he can hear you.
I will miss you Tim.
