As a single dry and dead leaf blew across our snow ladened yard, on the day of Gord's Celebration of Life, I felt like that leaf was still very much alive, uncovered by the hard snow surrounding it and blowing around in the -35 windchill...it stirred my heart to write this in my journal and wanted to share my heart in honour of my dear bro and mentor...
Gord had a way of seeing 'life' in the driest deserts and 'crumbliest' lives and will be alive forever with His Jesus!!! He was so wise and gifted in sooo many ways...insightful, talented and oh so humble. Gord literally 'saw' things around and in our lives that needed to 'vacate' so we can live a life full of hope, peace and joy, even in the deepest, coldest winter seasons;
In his gentle, humorous way he'd bring God's truth to the forefront of any conversation and weave it into a life lesson or challenge so you'd see and experience God's Light, Love and freedom, trusting you can become all who Christ created you to be. He was passionate about God's full armor to be worn daily so we can keep our hearts and minds free from lies and hurts from the past in order to live to it' fullest, a life honoring to God, no matter what life on earth throws our way.
Gord was a man of Truth and prayed for our family every day, (one of many families I'm sure!!including his own of course!) and he was the only one I could talk to about the many spirits who were taunting me 24/7, trying to tear me apart, pull me down, and destroy my hope...BUT GOD!! Gord's perseverance in prayer, his love for God's Truth, passion for seeing people walk in the freedom that a new life in Christ gives us, his steadfastness in prayer and his heart of the Father changed the course of my life and our entire family's future...for eternity!!
Gordo...you will always be near and dear to my heart (heart buddies too-sharing the same scars). Thanks for your unconditional love, wisdom and discernment that you shared with everyone who crossed your path. We love you so much and are grateful for the beautiful legacy you've left on this earth and the imprint of Jesus you've left on all of our hearts <3 You will be so dearly missed by soooo many...until we meet again for eternity!!

Gord picked me up at the Pearson airport one time. We spent some time together, I remember feeling cool just being around him. And, made sure to get him an Eat More bar as a thank-you.
Sending love from the Lutes family.

Dear Liz, Debra and Darren, Kim, Stephen and Mandy and family, We send our deepest sympathy! Gord was a kind, friendly, and hospitable person. Dave and I remember the times we played Cribbage, and how we would laugh whenever you and I would win a game and run around the table.
Also the time the two of you made us feel extra special by hosting us on special occasions, we always felt loved!
Gord will be missed, and we know heaven is rejoicing, but life will be very different for all of you here on earth. You will be in our thoughts and prayers for the next several months, hope you find God’s perfect peace, comfort, courage and strength!
Sending you love and concern, wish I could be there for you dear friend, but I am there in spirit.
Wanted to send you a card but don’t know where you are living, give me a call sometime. 506- 388- 1168.
Again we are feeling sad for your loss!

We do have lots of memories from our teen years in the Youth Group. I recall Gord talking about you guys being at Wasaga & getting a volkswagon stuck between the trees. You guys had to pick it up & turn it around!

Seems like only yesterday that I was helping your dad work on the church busses, changing my Buick engine in his shop, traveling down to West Virginia with you, looking for a car to bring home and make a buck or two after you fixed it up. How you made my less than perfect body work look great after you painted my cars for next to nothing.
More than anything I remember you smile your gentle spirit. So like Garfield.
Glad to have known the Garfield family. See you again.
