Obituary of Joan Catherine McDermott
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan McDermott (nee Spicer) at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Roy and her son Thomas. Joan is survived by her children Beverly, Patricia, Bruce (Jennifer) and Steven. Loving Nana to Megan, Mitchell, Jaymee and Jacob. She will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Joan was a devoted sports fan and especially loved her Leafs and Jays. “This is the year!” She was one of the first women hockey coaches in Port Elgin, and she took pride in mentoring her Novice team. She will be fondly remembered as a kind lady with a wonderful sense of humour, a good friend and a great Mom. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 22nd 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Brooklin Community Centre, 45 Cassels Road East, Whitby Ontario.
