Obituary of Eileen Mary Sheehan
On September 10, 2023, Eileen Sheehan (née Kennedy) passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry.
Born in Montreal to the late Wilfred (Fee) and Annie Kennedy, Eileen grew up the youngest of three girls. She adored summers up at the island, spending the days swimming and returning to the house for her mother’s fresh bread. She always had a talent for music, playing piano by ear, and sharing her sweet voice on the radio as part of the Little Players show. She loved a good game of cards, anything the colour blue, and always followed something good with a little something sweet.
Eileen met Patrick Sheehan at a dance and in 1960 they married. She was attended by her dear sisters and carried a bouquet of feathered pink carnations.
Throughout her life, Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Loving mother of Rory, Wendy (Bob), Noreen, and Jim (Shelley). Cherished Nanny to Melissa (Spencer), Caitlin, Kayleigh, Matthew, Drew (Sam), Brendan (Sarah), Kyle (Kayla), Courtney (Josh), Kevin, and Steven. Adoring Great-Grandmother (G.G.) to Meghan, Kieran, Aidan, Lily, Declan, Lucas, Lainie, Ryan, Noah, Mickey, Nate, Sophie, and Wesley. She will be deeply missed by all, including many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Patrick (2004), her sister Myrna (1980), and her sister Anne (2014).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society may be sent through the Wagg Funeral Home, 216 Queen Street, Port Perry (905-985-2171) are gratefully appreciated.
The family will receive friends at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1710 Scugog Street (Hwy 7A) in Port Perry, on Friday, September 15, 2023 for Visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with luncheon to follow in the Church Hall.
