Obituary of Gerald William Breen
Passed away peacefully at the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, after a short battle with cancer, at age 87. Gerald Breen, beloved husband of the late Eileen (nee Donohue) for 60 years (October 29) and Colleen Gibeau of Edmonton. Loved father of Kevin Breen (Sandra), Debbie Horton (Dave), Michael (deceased - 1971) and Karen (deceased - 1990). Cherished papa of Zachary, Melissa April, and Britni (Jared), and loving great papa of Jackson, Bentley and Cora (deceased). Loving son of the late Clarence and Kathleen Breen. Dear brother of Betty Dillon (Keith - deceased), Rita Giddy - deceased (Glen - deceased) and Joe Breen (June) (Sandra - deceased) and brother-in-law of Doreen Hughes (Gord - deceased), Fran Donohue (Eugene - deceased), Wallace Donohue (Cindy) (Carol – deceased) and stepbrother of Leonard Palmer (Elaine). Gerald will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and Colleen’s family.
Gerald & Eileen moved to Port Perry with their family in 1965. He retired from GM in 1993 with 29 years of service. He also had 25 years of part time sales with N.A.L. They loved to travel in their motorhomes starting in 1976. With all their travels, they made a lot of friends and acquaintances. They spent many winters in Florida and Arizona.
The family of Gerald Breen will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Saturday, November 11th from 11 a.m. – 12 noon followed by a Prayer Service at 12 noon. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery in Prince Albert. If desired, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Port Perry Hospital Foundation or the Hospital for Sick Children Foundation in Toronto.
