Dear Rick, We had some great times together at Towers Department Stores working as stock clerks together. The get togethers at cottages, at your house every Friday nite talking about the Lord of the Rings trilogy, music and poliitics. Of course this all went along with ordering 2 veal sandwiches apiece from Racco and Comisso Bakery . Good times. I also remember discussions on martial arts and the banjo you taught yourself to play. Its been 7 years and I still miss you friend. I really enjoyed our get togethers on your porch smoking cigarillos and talking about the good ole days. Miss you Brother.

Aunt Ivy and Kathy My deepest sympathy goes out to you. I remember Ricky as a little boy who couldn't believe how big the farm was when you used to come out to visit Grandpa and Granny. I have passed the news of Ricky's death on to Mom and she also extends her sympathy but feels unable to attend the service.

Kathy: I am so incredibly sorry about the loss of your brother. It must have come as a tremendous shock to everybody. There are truly no words that can ease your grief, only the passage of time will help ease the pain. Remembering the good times and loving those around you in the present will ease the transition. My thoughts are with you and your family. All the best.

Dear Kathy and Mrs. Shier, I can't describe the grief that I felt finding out that Rick has died. When I saw the both of you around last February/2005(I am guessing)and heard the news, I was shocked and deeply saddened. I remember Rick as a very serious, profoundly knowledgeable person. He and I had our differences but I must tell you that I always considered him my friend. I still remember the times that Steve Irwin , Rick and Myself would sit around your living room on Friday nights(I think that was when Mr. and Mrs. Shier would go up to the cottage). We would order 2 veal sandwiches with mushrooms and hot peppers for each one of us. Usually we would have a 12 pack of beer and smoke cigarettes while discussing current events , music and the Lord of the Rings. Back then I always felt that we three would be friends always. Although, I had lost contact with Steve , I always made sure I would visit Rick at least once a year. We would sit on his porch and smoke a cigar that I had brought with me. I guess I was longing for the old days. However, things had changed and life had taken its toll on the both of us. Gone was the innocence and the laughter that used to come so easily to us during the early days. Rick seemed to be mourning his lost love and I felt that he was suffering. There is a little bit of Rick in all of us. We are all suffering . I just hope that in some small way our yearly meetings brought him some relief. I know it meant alot to me.
