I have only slipped away into the next room. Everything remains as it was... The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged... Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by the old familiar name... Speak of me in the easy way, which you always used. Put no sorrow in your tone... Laugh as we always laugh at the little jokes that we enjoyed together... Play, smile, think of me, and pray for me... Let my name be ever the houshold word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effort... Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner... All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall smile at the trouble of parting, when we meet again...

Dear Pat, Nicola, Jayne and Claire and families, Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time - Fred fought a hard fight against odds which in the end he couldn't beat. In time the sad memories will be overpowered by the happy memories of many good years together. The most difficult thing for us who are left to comprehend is that Love transcends the grave. Fred has not stopped loving us or we him. As St Paul says Love never dies. With our love, John and Clare and family. Fred: May the road rise to meet you; May the wind be always on your back; May the sun shine warm on your face; May the rains fall soft upon your fields; and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. (Anonymous - Old Gaelic Blessing)
