Dear Price Family; I am so very sorry for your loss. I met Dr.Price 6 years ago because of a bad back, he had never met me but told me to come right over. Dr. Price sent me to a bunch of different doctors trying to find one that could fix my back. Every time something new came that he wasn't sure about he would send me to a specialist who would be able to help. Dr. Price even came to mine and also my parents house a total of 3 different times when I wasn't able after different surgeries to come into the office to see him. The last time I remember a doctor doing a house call was when I was about 6 years old and my Grandma was sick. Dr. Price was one in a million he had a kind heart and loved to talk about his family and what they were all doing he was proud of them. So really I just want to say thank you for sharing Dr. Price with me I feel like I was blessed by having him as my Doctor. I am really going to miss him. Patti Wright

Dear Pat,A voice from your past. I looked at Ralphs' picture in the paper and sort of had two thoughts simultaneously-- What a great loss and What a great picture to put in the paper. I'm so glad you had over 40? years together. From the write up in the Star it looks like a very interesting and fulfilling life you made together. I couldn't help going to the highschool yearbook and looking at Ralphs graduation picture. There was no mention of interest in medicine then, but I remember hearing somewhere along the line that he had gone into it.So much time has gone by since those days when we were too young to really appreciate all the great things we had still ahead of us. The best of life was yet to come.I lost my husband 8 years ago. He was a surgeon. You'll have so much happening in these next few days and weeks. Please e-mail me when things settle down as they will and you feel like "talking". It has been 40 yrs or so, so you may not even remember me that well. I can't say anything else but I'm so sorry ,Pat. Elaine (Withers)Crossland

I am an old patient of Dr. Price. In fact, he delivered both my sister and I. He even suggested that my sister be named after him. I guess Little Raplhie Jr. didn't sound right for a baby girl. I had many visits with him in emergency. He even nick-named me "Crash" for having sometimes multiple visits in one day. When I think of Dr. Price I have wonderful and funny memories. I think of him sauntering into the room, usually wearing sandals and having a sucker sticking out of his mouth. I remember his really cool "toys" lined around his office walls, which I now understand to be antique, carved figures of carts, horses and I think even trains. Even though I was a child patient I always felt like he really listened and cared for me. He also greeted me first and talked directly to me instead of my supporting parent who was by my side. He had a terrific way with children and he made them feel like they were being heard. His spirit was kind and gentle, and he had a spark which is hard to describe. I think of him often and have a little chuckle from memories of his fun-loving spirit. I give my condolences to your family. He was a terrific man and I know he made a huge impression on many people that he met along his life journey. I was one of those people. Thank you Dr. Price. You will be greatly missed and often remembered. Every time I have a sucker I always think of you. Sabrina Brown Port Perry

My thoughts are with you at this sensitive time. I can't imagine how you are feeling. I can only say, be strong. Kim, you always spoke highly of your dad. Although I can't recall ever meeting him, I knew from your "positive and kind" words, that he was a "man of honour and well respected". You painted the most amazing picture of him in my mind. Although I'm miles away teaching in South Korea, I just want you, Bruce, the girls, your mom, Matthew and Taylor to know you are in my thoughts. Be strong. Love Darren

Four years ago, in my antiquarian bookstore in Ottawa, I was driven by desperation to ask a customer what I could do to challenge the Health Care system delays. I had been told to expect to wait for two years for a hip replacement, classified as elective surgery even though my arthritis was causing me debilitating agony. Within weeks Dr. Price arranged the hip replacement operation in Oshawa. For me it was a life event and I have never ceased to be profoundly grateful that this decent, caring man happened to walk into my bookstore that May afternoon and offered help to a casual aquaintance who shared his love of books. Dear Patricia, Kim and family, I was so saddened and shocked to hear about Ralph's death. I have such fond memories of him when we were young. Ralph could always make me laugh and I was fascinated by his quick, enquiring mind. Kim, you probably have no memory of me but when you were just a baby, your parents needed a baby sitter to watch you while they went away for a much deserved weekend. I may be wrong but I think it was the first time they had ever left you. Never having taken care of babies before, I was so nervous about looking after you that I had nightmares for two weeks before you came to my house! Anyway to make a long story short, you came for the weekend, I looked after you PERFECTLY, and by the end of two days I had fallen completely in love! Found it very difficult to give you back to your Mom and Dad on Sunday. Pat, I'm living in Lagoon City, just south of Orillia, and often come to Port Perry to have lunch with my friend Bonnie Duncan. Each time I'm there I think fondly of both you and Ralph...I'm so sorry I didn't contact you sooner. Take care all of you and as you pass through these difficult days remember that I'm thinking of you. Love, Anne

Pat, When our friend Jim moved from Toronto to Prince Albert one of the first things he said to me was, "There's a guy here you absolutely have to meet." How right he was. Over the past 25 years every visit that included running into Ralph was a little brighter for that. I will miss his erudite but ireverent conversation, his gentle but uncompromising commitment, and his serious but never solemn attitude. I am saddened by his loss. To The Family of Dr. Ralph Price, Please accept our most sincere condolences in your loss of a very wonderful man. He was not only our Doctor, but also our friend. He was a very caring, sympathetic and funny. He made us comfortable from the first time we met him. It's raining today because the Good Lord is crying because he took him much too soon. Dr. Price may be gone but he is forever in our hearts and minds. May God Bless you all. My name is Janet and I wanted to add that he was a wonderful man who took care of my daughter from the age of 1 week old and as she grew, her love for him did aswell. Everytime she saw him she would hug and kiss him to make him smile. He called her his "favorite girl" and we gave him pictures of her as she grew to show that he did a wonderful job taking care of her. We will forever miss him and he will never be forgotten or replaced. We loved him like family.

The first two pictures on Dr. Price's picture board were of my twin brother and sister. Michael continued to see him until last year when he moved away. Michael is 40 years old. My son Jason and daughter Lee Ann were both delivered by Dr. Price. The family continued to see him until we moved away some 30 years ago. I would run into him now and then over the years and he always had that boyish grin and warm greeting. I feel a great sadness in my heart. That man left a wealth of wonderful memories for our family. Please accept my sincerest condolences. I am always saddened when someone dies, Especially someone who has helped so many. Although they are at peace, we still miss them very much. Jesus Wept just before he resurrected Lazarus. What comforts me the most is the promises Jesus made of a resurrection (john 11:25) and of Seeing them again and Living Forever with our loved ones, in Paradise (John 3:16,36; Psalm 37:29) (luke 23:43). What also comforts me is that these promises may also comfort your family as well.

I had the very good fortune of being one of Dr. Price's patients. Not only was Dr. Price the most caring and compassionate doctor I've ever met, he was also a friend to me. During the most trying time of my life, suffering from depression and chronic pain and unable to find a physician that would do anything more than throw pills at the problem, Dr. Price listened attentively to me, encouraged me, respected me, and even shared some of his own personal struggles with me. Most of all he gave me hope again and for that I am eternally grateful. With all my heart, my condolences go out to the family and friends of one of the greatest human beings I have ever had the privilege to meet.

I am very saddened to hear of Ralph's passing. My prayers and sympathy go out to all his family, his wife Mary and children especially, and to ALL of us who loved him. So sorry but we just found out as we now live 20 miles north of Fenelon Falls, Burnt River area. Ralph was a very special person who brought life into the world and was full of life himself. He always listened and made me feel so good about things, even when I was sick, and he made me laugh so much too. I thought he was a terrific guy and wonderful doctor. He was so smart in so many areas, and was so interesting to listen to also. My husband has known him since 1964 and been helped over the years so much, suffering from depressions. I have only known him for about 12 years and it seemed like he'd been around all of my life. We had to move to another doctor in 2002 as it was just too far for us to travel, and he was so kind that day, I felt terrible, and he was so understanding and hugged me. I think a lot of people got big hugs from Ralph, and he loved everyone. We all certainly loved him. I cannot say enough about him, a very extra special person, who was the finest doctor (and man) I have ever known. Please take comfort in knowing that hundreds of people are saying prayers for you all. We are so sorry! Chris C.
