It is with shock and sadness that we announce the sudden death of Victoria Leigh McWhirter (ne Faint) on March 26, 2021. She will be missed by her daughters Lindsay, Darcie, and Angus. She will also be missed by her sister's, nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Mom worked for many years at the Scugog Animal Shelter. And those who knew her knew she is an animal whisperer. Her heart and soul went into the care for the animals she rescued, and she wanted to adopt many of them. She always spoke about how animals brought out the best in us. There will be no memorial at present. Our family will have a celebration of her life in the summer

My condolences to all the family of Vicki, I worked with her as my manager for about 4 years at the Animal Shelter where she spent many many years helping and improving the lives of stray animals in the community. She had a document saved on the computer at work titled 'Vic's Gravestone Message' and I recall when she saved it and told all the staff that it was a poem she wanted shared with family and friends at her time of death. I do not know the original author but here is the poem: DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP I AM NOT HERE; I DO NOT SLEEP. I AM A THOUSAND WINDS THAT BLOWS, I AM THE DIAMOND’S GILT ON SNOW I AM THE SUNLIGHT ON RIPENED GRAIN. I AM THE GENTLE AUTUMN’S RAIN WHEN YOU AWAKE IN THE MORNING’S HUSH, I AM THE SWIFT UPLIFTING RUSH. OF QUIET BIRDS CIRCLED FLIGHT I AM THE SOFT STARS THAT SHINE IN THE NIGHT DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND CRY, I AM NOT HERE. I DID NOT DIE. - Emily
