Obituary of Richard James Peter Bates

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, at age 66 with family at his bedside. Beloved son of Helen and the Late James Bates. Loving Dad of Amanda and Scott Harper (Sunderland), and Jennifer Bates (Oshawa).  Loving grandfather of Lennox and Keegan Bates, Taylor and Finley Harper. Richard will be greatly missed by Jill Bates, his sisters Marlene Leger, and Debbie Conforti, nieces and nephews.  Richard retired from Dupont after a long, dedicated career. He was a kind manager, who genuinely cared about his team.

Richard’s family will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Tuesday April 4, 2023 from 1 – 2 p.m. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Reverend Elaine Hall officiating. Interment Pine Grove Cemetery.
